The Aurora Collective sponsored a 6-women team to paddle the Yukon River Quest as its inaugural trip. The Yukon River Quest, also known as the Race to the Midnight Sun, is the world’s longest annual canoe and kayak marathon. Entering its 18th year, the YRQ draws top international paddlers. The race is 715 km (444 miles) from Whitehorse to Dawson City along the Yukon River. With few mandatory stops, many paddlers choose to paddle through the night to try to complete the race in under 55 hours and become eligible for a cash prize. The Preparation
The Aurora Collective has been following the team’s preparation. In speaking with the team captain, Ann Raiho, “Our goal this year is to be as competitive as possible while growing as a team and connecting with our fellow paddlers. We are in the process of finalizing our logistics and training as much as possible.” The Aurora Collective plans to complete the race in 50 hours, an aggressive timeline that calls for long hours and few stops. The team is excited to join an elite community of boaters and paddle the historic Yukon river. They hope their competitive spirit inspires other women of all levels of outdoor adventure experience to get outside, try something new and strive for their dreams.
The Aurora Collective is excited to support this team as they actively promote women-led adventure travel and competition.
