Megan’s Story

Megan’s adventures in the wilderness began over a decade ago at Camp Widjiwagan, an organization dedicated to leading extended wilderness adventure trips and outdoor education programs for Minnesota’s youth. Since her first canoe trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) at age 14, her passion for backcountry tripping has brought her through some of the continent’s wildest territories, including two 35-day expeditions in Alaska’s Brooks Range and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
In addition to her experience guiding dozens of canoe and backpacking trips, Megan is an avid runner, having run from Two Harbors to Duluth in Grandma’s Marathon in 2011 and the Boston Marathon in 2013. She currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts, working for John Hancock and praying for snow.

Why this trip?

The Yukon Quest combines two of my favorite things- adventures in the wilderness and competition. I couldn’t be more excited to join this exceptional group of women to test our limits as a team. This trip will be a serious physical and mental challenge, and I hope that our hard work will help inspire other women and girls to get outside and go after their dreams!
